OVER THE EDGE.

CHARITY HAS UNUSUAL WAY TO RAISE $6M

A Baltimore charity is trying to raise $6 million for a new inpatient drug rehab building in Baltimore.

As Mike Schuh reports, to raise money, they're asking people to pay them to walk off the edge of a building.

Baltimore charity donors said no more golf tournaments or dinners.  So one charity decided to try something new.

"The name of the event is 'Over the Edge for Recovery,'" said Renee Watkins, Gaudenzia Addiction & Recovery.

People are literally going over the edge of a building.  "Gotta do something different," said Gale Saler.

Now you know where the money's going, what about that building?  Silo Point is 23 stories tall, 270 feet at the drop zone.

Mike Schuh went over the edge, and said, "Holy cow, that's something!"

Only 80 people can rappel off Silo Point Wednesday.  They expect to raise $40,000 from the event.
