SILO POINT WINS NATIONAL HOMEBUILDERS AWARD

Locust Point condo development Silo Point was honored as the Attached Community of the Year by the National Association of Homebuilders, project developer Pat Turner said in a release Thursday.

The 220-unit project was nominated by the judges of The Nationals, the association's annual awards. It was selected from four other finalists and a field from major metro areas including New York City, Chicago and Miami as well as Costa Rica, Canada and Mexico.

Silo Point won eight awards in total, including gold awards for Best Urban Sales Center and Best Brochure. The projects were judged on innovation and imagination of design as well as marketing concepts.

The 24-story building was constructed in 1923 as the fastest and largest grain elevator in the world. Turner has spent the last few years revamping it into a condo development; units went on the market last fall.
