AWARDS WATCH LIST.

AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR LEGG MASON TOWER, SILO POINT CONDOS, OTHER CITY BUILDINGS

Seven Baltimore development projects have been picked for their innovation and vision to be the first recipients of a new award sponsored by The Urban Land Institute's Baltimore chapter.

The Baltimore District Council of Washington-based ULI is launching the WaveMaker Awards program to recognize new local projects that stimulate private investment and fit well into their communities. The projects will be honored today at the Legg Mason Tower at Harbor East during a ceremony that will also mark the selection of Baltimore's Inner Harbor as the recipient of ULI's 2009 Heritage Award, given by ULI to developments that have contributed to their communities for at least 25 years.

The seven WaveMaker projects include Miller's Court, a warehouse renovated into offices and apartments on North Howard Street by Seawall Development Co.; Silo Point, a former Locust Point grain elevator turned into condos by Turner Development Group; Legg Mason Tower, the new headquarters of the Baltimore-based money manager built by H&S Properties Group; and Fairfield Inn by Marriott on South President Street by Summit Associates LLC/A&R Development Corp.

Awards will go also to Towns at Orchard Ridge, a 60-acre community on Maple Ridge Drive by Pennrose Properties/Doracon Development LLC; Baltimore Medical System's Highlandtown Healthy Living Center on Fleet Street by Highlandtown Development LLC; and the American Brewery on North Gay Street, an abandoned brewery turned into offices, by Humanim.
